Christchurch Casino is centred in the middle of New Zealand’s third most populous city, and with so many tourists and locals visiting, Christchurch is one of the busiest casinos in New Zealand. The casino calls itself “Christchurch’s Premier Entertainment Destination”, and this is not without merit.
Christchurch Casino has an absolutely superb lay-out, jam-packed with things to do. Even if you don’t particularly care for casino games, there is enough happening at Christchurch Casino to keep everybody entertained, with live bands and live sports, as well as quality grub, excellent drinks, and of course, unrivalled casino gaming.
The actual casino is located in the popular Victoria Street district, and boosts 500 gaming machines, as well as 36 table games. Those table games include all of your popular activities, such as roulette, baccarat, blackjack, and plenty of poker.
There is a dress code in the casino, so it is worth checking out how you look before you pull up to the venue. The dress code is neat and smart – nothing too lavish or trashy. Speaking of “pulling up”, the casino comes fully-comped with 266 parking spaces, with parking being cheap at $3 per hour, or a maximum rate of $12 per day.
Christchurch Casino also occasionally plays home to the New Zealand poker championships, attracting the biggest players from around the poker world for its tournaments and events. There is also a VIP gaming lounge present at the casino, where the biggest spenders, and highest rollers are welcomed. The Club Aspinall VIP room is only open to invited players, so players who visit frequently, or have sizeable wads to blow should find it very much their cup of tea.
The casino itself is free to enter, and can be used to host functions. If you wish to pop along to Christchurch Casino, they are open Mondays to Thursdays from 11am to 3am. On Fridays, they are open on a 24/7 basis, until Monday morning at 3am. The casino doesn’t open until 1pm on ANZAC Day, but is only fully closed on Christmas, and Good Friday.
Dining and Children’s Entertainment
Christchurch Casino contains 3 bars, and 4 restaurants. Visitors can indulge in watching sports, and listening to live music every weekend, whilst eating in the contemporary Grand Café, the sporty Monza Sports Bar, or Cantonese Chi Kitchen which only recently opened at the casino.
There are plenty of places for you to spend the night (or longer, of course) when playing in Christchurch Casino. The Argyle on the Park, Sherborne Motor Lodge, Courtesy Court Motel, Rosewood Court Motel, and Heartland Hotel Cotswold are all located very close to the casino, are cheap but luxurious enough for most. The Pavilions Hotel, The George, and Sudima Hotel are also popular with gamblers. This will enable you to save more for your casino gaming experience inside the Christchurch Casino resort.
